PLATYPUS SWIMMING CLUB FOR THE HANDICAPPEDHatfield Swim Centre, Lemsford Road, Hatfield, AL10 0EBMeets on Sunday 11.00am-1.00pm. Platypus provides a service to the disabled (physically or mentally) and those in need of remedial treatment. Hatfield Swim Centre has excellent facilities - the main pool has a full length at 1m depth and the children´s pool is excellent for remedial work. The main pool is accessible by the hoist or by steps, designed especially for the club´s members. The club helps and encourages the handicapped both physically and mentally and those in need of remedial treatment to get in to the water, exercise, swim, relax and generally have a nice time. Their club also actively enters competitive galas between local clubs, regionally and nationally. Membership is £5.00 per annum and 50p per swim. Children under 5 years of age have free membership, but are charged 50p per swim. Volunteer helpers are given associate membership with an entitlement, if there is time, to an extra 20 minute swim from 12.20pm-12.40pm. There are no particular requirements for Associate Membership (except a willingness to smile, laugh and have a good time). Please contact for further information.
