HATFIELD & DISTRICT MUSIC FESTIVALP O Box 413, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 9ANAnnual music festival which celebrates and encourages excellence in the performance of music in all fields by candidates of all ages, either as soloists or in groups of two or more. There are sections for piano, strings, woodwind, brass, recorder, voice, classical guitar and electric and acoustic guitar. Classes within the sections for ages from 8 years and under to adult, all levels and attainment catered for. Adjudicators are chosen for their specialist knowledge of their sectionīs instruments and their communication skills. Specialist Prizes are awarded for outstanding performances and potential. The Festival Prize Winner may be offered a performance with the Philharmonic at U/H Orchestra. The 2007 festival will be taking place on: * 31st March & 1st April (piano and woodwind, recorder and brass) * 14th and 15th April (strings, guitar and voice) * 22nd April (finalists competition/concert) Closing date for entries is the 26th January 2007. Syllabus and entry forms can be obtained from the Administrator (sending an A5 SAE). No residential qualification is needed for entry. Date of AGM: Early October.
