HATFIELD FORESTTakeley, Nr Bishops Stortford, Herts, CM22 6NEThis National Trust property on the Essex/Hertfordshire border is an outstanding ancient woodland and rare surviving example of a medieval royal hunting Forest. The pollarded trees support a wide variety of wildlife and there are many excellent walks and nature trails, as well as fishing in the lake. The Forest hosts a number of events throughout the year. Check the website or information line for further details. It is located a few miles east of Bishops Stortford. Opening arrangements: Daily, dawn to dusk. Vehicle access restricted to entrance car park (Monday-Saturday) November to April 1st. A car park charge for non National Trust members applies. Disabled facilities: reserved car parking; accessible paths and grassland; bookable self drive vehicle and manual wheelchair. Registered charity number 205846
