BRITISH SCHOOLS MUSEUM41/42 Queen Street, Hitchin, SG4 9TSA unique collection of schoolrooms tells the history of elementary education. Explore the 1837 monitorial schoolroom, the 1853 galleried classroom and others from 1857/1905. Guided tours and group visits cater for adults; the family trail allows children to try their hand at writing on slates and with dip pens, and to play with Victorian toys and games.
