DRUM. DISABILITY RECREATION UNITY MOVEMENT (WATFORD)Parkgate Community Centre, Southwold Road, Watford, Hertfordshire, WD24 7DPDisability, Recreation, Unity, Movement (DRUM). DRUM is a small registered charity providing day services for over 60 adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities and their carers. DRUM is currently open from 9am-3pm on a Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at the Parkgate Youth & Community Centre in Watford and on a Wednesday at the Hartspring Community Centre, Park Avenue Bushey. Activities include art, creative crafts, textiles, ceramics, yoga, drama, complementary therapy, indoor bowls and angling. Services also include transport, refreshments, light lunches, chiropodist, hairdresser, nail manicurist, social events and days out. For those that do not want to participate in the daily activity sessions, newspapers, reading books, tape books, board games, cards etc are also available. Carers Support Sessions are held every 4-6 weeks and include free advice and training for carers, yoga and complementary therapy sessions. DRUM is a unique group, user-led. The majority of the members were not born with a disability but developed one through accident or illness such as a stroke or MS. Current activities: Monday - Yoga & Indoor Bowl Tuesday - Art, Yoga, Complementary Therapy Wednesday - Creative Crafts & Yoga Friday - Ceramics, Yoga, Complementary Therapy, Chiropodist every 4 weeks Saturday - Art, Indoor Bowls, Angling with Watford Piscators. Transport may be arranged either through Dial-a-Ride or DRUM minibus. Annual Membership - £25.00 Daily Attendance Fee - £3.00 Lunch - £2.00 Directions: Parkgate Youth & Community Centre is the small white building next to Parkgate Junior School.
